The US Academic Bee and Bowl is pleased to announce that in the 2018-2019 academic year it will once again be hosting the National Qualifying Exam sites for the Middle School and Elementary School Divisions of the International Geography Bee. The International Geography Bee is a quiz competition focusing on all aspects of world geography; at the National Championships it is entirely buzzer-based.

7th Grade (for all students 8th grade, or for homeschooled students born between October 1, 2005 and September 30, 2006 for the 2018-2019 academic year if they lack a formal grade designation)

Details on the Junior Varsity Division can be found by exploring the IGB website at www.internationalgeographybee.com Students can also qualify for the biennial IGB World Championships (next to be held in July 2020) by placing in the top 50% at Nationals or by scoring 75 or higher on any IGB Qualifying Exam version.

At each US Academic Bee and Bowl Regional tournament site, the D Set version of the US Geography Olympiad & International Geography Bee National Qualifying Exam (the same exam and qualification procedures are used for both competitions) will be offered.

At each US Academic Bee Regional tournament site which is held in conjunction with the Regional Finals of the National History Bee, the E Set version of the US Geography Olympiad & International Geography Bee National Qualifying Exam will be offered and at each US Academic Bee held in conjunction with the Regional Finals of the National Science Bee, the F Set version of the NQE will be offered. These exams are offered free of charge to anyone who is competing there in the History Bee or Science Bee. Students competing in full day tournaments offering both can thus take both versions of the NQE.
